New and Improved Wheel Chair Cushion
Defined Tag: Wheel Chair Cushion. Suffering a basketball injury is not part of your plans, but you had an accident. Right now, what is important is to let the injured body part heal effectively. You have two options: take the crutches or take the wheel chair. Taking the crutches is an option for young people because they think that wheel chairs are for old people only. But those people who are reasonable think otherwise. Wheel chairs make you feel comfortable with their wheel chair cushion; they will not tire you; and they will keep you on the move, and they are most definitely a neat machine that you can spin yourself on. But like any other man-made device, the wheel chair has its disadvantages. You rest on the wheel chair cushion and you will sit on it for the rest of your life. Aside from the pain in the shoulders while turning the rim of the wheel, there are instances when the cushion will give you cramps. Feeling cramps is a sign that the cushion is not designed properly. You are in danger of developing skin ulcers or pressure soars if you continue to sit on it. Since the cushion is that part of the wheel chair that is constantly in touch with the body, it must be designed as accommodating as possible. Designs of wheel chair cushions have changed over the years. The usually upholstered seat use different types of cushions such as air cushions, foam cushions, and gel cushions. There is even a design called the eggcrate that improves the seating comfort of a person with its egg crate-like design. Packets of air are trapped in the depressed spaces in the crate decreasing the pressure on the seat. The latest design is from Numotech, wherein a hydraulic-like mechanism inflates or deflates a bladder sac filled with air located under the seat. This bladder of air decreases pressure. This new-age seat also balances the over-all weight on the cushion to keep the person from feeling uncomfortable. To keep the wheel chair cushion in pristine order, be sure to observe cracks along the surface and defer from keeping it under the sun for too long
